How a Childhood Surrounded by Antiques Shaped My Career

From an early age, I was surrounded by antiques. My parents had a deep appreciation for history and craftsmanship, and our home reflected that passion. Each piece—whether a finely carved sideboard, a delicate porcelain vase, or a worn but beautiful leather chair—was chosen not only for its aesthetic but for the story it carried.

Growing up in that environment instilled in me an understanding that antiques are far more than objects. They represent artistry, cultural heritage, and memories passed down through generations. I learned to notice details others might overlook—the way a finish reveals the hand of its maker, the significance of a hallmark, or how time itself leaves a unique signature on every surface.

This early education provided the foundation for the career I have today. Working with families to transition their estates, I see firsthand how belongings embody personal histories. My role is not only to research, value, and present these items to buyers, but also to honor the meaning they hold for those parting with them.

Antiques taught me patience, respect, and perspective. They remind me daily that our possessions are chapters of our lives, each deserving care and thoughtful handling. By bringing that philosophy into my work, I ensure that every sale is approached with professionalism, dignity, and an appreciation for the legacy behind each item.

In many ways, the career I have built is a continuation of what began in my childhood home: valuing history, respecting craftsmanship, and helping others see the beauty and significance in the pieces that tell their story.

If you are preparing for an estate sale or home transition, I would be honored to bring this same care and professionalism to your family’s story.
